Action films usually consist of one or more protagonists who have to overcome a problem, usually caused by the antagonist. To overcome this problem they have to go through a lot of challenges that are filled with action. A lot of the time they are fighting enemies who clearly outnumber them or who seem as a very challenging threat. There are usually action filled parts throughout the movie that all lead up to a major action scene towards the end, in which it’s basically like the “final boss” or challenge. In this part, it seems like the protagonist is hand to hand with the challenge and anyone could win, but in the end the protagonist wins after struggling a lot.
There is usually loud music playing during the parts with the most action. The editing is fast paced to keep up with the flow of the movie and make it more fun to watch, instead of making it slow and boring. Many special effects and stunts are used to fill these action packed moments. Sometimes they use stunt doubles which are people who put themselves in dangerous situations in place of the actor or actress to prevent injury. Some special effects have become easier because of the advancing technology. For example CGI, which stands for “computer-generated imagery”, is used in situations where it would be very hard or impossible to recreate in real life.
Specific actors are casted in these productions because they have experience in action films and the audience is more familiar with them. The plot occurs in easily recognizable locations such as famous cities. Normally, the same directors direct these films because it costs a lot of money to make and they have a reputation because they know how to direct action films.
